About Us
Third World Productions…”Keeping It Locally Global”
Third World Productions is the brainchild of Guatemalan born creative director Selvin de Leon. The evolution of Third World Productions began with deLeon Arts, created in 2001, whose main concentration was on the visual arts, graphic design and art direction. A production company that created art shows in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, to represent and present local artists, specializing in fine arts, art show locations, such as, various galleries, bars, restaurants, private establishments and homes.
From deLeon Arts the metamorphosis was to Copasetic Ballyhoo, created in 2005, a company providing music production as well as coordinating live events and showcases. It was created to give artists (mostly musicians), either new to the music scene or up and coming, an avenue to showcase their talents, as well as, a “meet and greet” for fellow artists. Keeping an eye on a quality showcase with an objective to transcend genres.
With the advent of Third World Productions, the visual arts and the music came together to create a multi-faceted promotions and production company. It was created to specialize in event planning, talent representation and marketing. While Copasetic was mostly music and deLeon Arts was more fine arts. Third World is bringing another level of entertainment, with mediums varying but the quality is more cutting edge and avante garde.
“Living in a post modern era where everything has been done before, it requires a unique kind of artist to be able to present their art creatively and fresh.” says Selvin de Leon.
3WP bridges the gap between corporate clients and the promotion of local, up and coming artists and musicians. One of their main themes is the effort to stay local, as in showcasing local talent within their own communities. At the same time Third World Productions is taking the local scene and turn it into an international one. To quote Mr. de Leon “Keeping it local and global.”
Third World Productions has worked on many diverse projects, from booking talent, such as Gezillig’s Bar and to creating complete promotional packages. One of those promotional packages was for Deep Ellums Outdoor Artists Market, “Malcolm’s Swap Meet”. This is one example of Third World Productions desire to bring artists, musicians and their community together. This project went from December 2007 to April 2010.
From 2007 through 2009 Third World Productions concentrated on corporate events and productions, with clients such as: Microsoft, Sony Play Station, Johnson & Johnson, Harley Davidson, Verizon, Wal-Mart, Mary Kay, Puma, Route 32 Productions, AFI/Deep Ellum Film Festival, 462 Productions, Entertainment Collaborative, Frito-Lay, (Reality TV Show) Eye-for-an-Eye, Calvin Klein and Bryan’s House, to name a few.
Always keeping it’s eye on the local arts scene, 3WP is revamping it’s website to represent and/or showcase new talent. It will have a particular emphasis on the “digital jungle”, the new frontier, specializing in website design, web casts and live video manipulations (vj).
“As our new motto is ‘Welcome to the digital jungle!’ As time has passed, our technology is growing so fast that it has become the new jungle. And that is where you will find Third World Productions.”
